Surat Al Kahf – The Cave
Friday, August 6th, 2010My iPhone Apps – Part 4
Friday, July 9th, 2010I’ve promised a post about bloggers, but haven’t had the time to prepare it yet. However, if you’re interested in iPhone Apps or want a reason to get yourself an iPhone, here’s the 4th part of the latest Apps I’m liking. If interested, refer back to part 1, 2 and 3.
32) WhatsApp
I’m sure most of you who use Blackberrys or iPhones have already heard about this messaging App. Who said you need a blackberry to be in touch 24 hours? this app works between iPhone to iPhone and iPhone to Blackberry. Why is it better than the regular Blackberry messenger? Well, you can broadcast photos, audio notes, contacts and share your location. Photos are not attached in links, this is something very stupid in blackberry phones :P. Also, you can assign a display picture for each person on your contact list which is a plus on the iPhone version. I have to be honest though, I’m glad i have just a few family members on it, i’m not very fond of chatting. check out their website for screen shots.
33) Grand Cinemas
You may have seen a very silly Ad in Grand cinemas about this app, it can be useful, though it crashes a lot. You can book e-tickets through the app as well.
This is a very detailed weather app. It gives a forecast for 9 days as well as hours within the same day. It shows the humidity and dew point level and more. Of course you’re able to bookmark more than one country/city.
35) IKEA UK
I don’t know about you, but i have a bond with IKEA. I can walk around their store all day long and not get sick of it. This App is something quite similar to their E-catalog. It provides the same functionality of browsing the catalog, zooming in and out, going through their index and so on. This is the UK version, so the prices are all in UK Pounds, but the products are almost similar in all regions.
36) Qamar Deen
This is an App the reminds me of my dear Miracle. She always has a scheduale made for the day to monitor what progress she’s making in particular things such as Reading, prayers and so on. Using this app you are able to track your prayers, whether you’ve prayed on time, late or missed a prayer during the day. It also monitors your daily Quran reading by also tracking how many Ayahs you’ve read. There are two more options of monitoring your Sadaqa (charity) which is categorized in Money, food, effort, clothes, smile and others. Finally, you can also record your fasting whether its Fareedha, Sunnah, Qadha2, Kaffara and so on. The App goes asfar as allowing you to choose your gender to customize it more, and it also links to any Quran apps you have on your phone such as iQuran and Quran Reader, where it shifts you to the app to continue your daily Quran read. It’s a free App and it’s a must have for every Muslim.
37) حصن المسلم
Remember those tiny orange booklets of Hosn Al Muslim? I always tend to loose them or forget them in different hand bags. This is an electronic version of the book with all its chapters, you can find almost any Do3aa or Thikr you may need in your life. I love this app
38) iAzkar
Similar to the previous app but this one is specialized in Athkar al Sabah and Athkar Al Masa2. it also contains Prayer Thikr and Random atkar.
NEWSPAPERS
39) The National
I like this newspaper, I have to admit that i enjoy admiring it’s layout and design more than its content lol. My favorite sections are the Arts and Life. the content it updated daily and you are able to increase/ decrease font size and also search the paper.
40) Al Ittihad
Another newspaper app for the local newspaper Al Ittihad. The App is very organized , convenient and easy to use.
41) Al Bayan
I left Al Bayan for last for even though i never read this newspaper, it holds a special place in my heart. The App has been improved since the first release. Way to go Al Bayan folks! though you must add the supplements too such as The National newspaper is doing.
Everyone complains
Friday, February 19th, 2010God knows how many times i have started new posts but ended up keeping them in the draft folder instead. In order to post a blog entry, i have to be REALLY feeling what i want to jot down, & so if im REALLY serious about an issue, it’s the best time to update, & if am REALLY in a “sakhafa” mood, excuse the silly updates
.. I’ve never really kept a dairy for more than a couple of days since my childhood, but a blog is something i have been keeping since 2001, since Microsoft Front Page & Dynamic Drive were the coolest things around …. I’ve always kept it, even if it ended up lifeless for months..
I cannot let go of it, its an important part of me…..
There are so many topics I’ve been wanting to discuss in here, some of which may be too sensitive.. but I am waiting for the right time…
by the way. May i complain?
Honestly speaking, the culture here irritates me sometimes, a lot of times it becomes such a heavy burden, meaningless protocols that irritate the hell out of me… i like to have the freedom of choosing how to do things, & when , i truly despise the idea of someone forcing me into doing a certain thing, with the most annoying reason in the world, which is “that’s how everyone does it around here!” if you want my demons to rise, just say this line to my face! i honestly don’t care how other people do their thing, this may be rebellious and a rude thing to say about ones own culture, but commmmon, lets face it, culture is man-made, which means yes, it has lots of lovely things, yet so many illogical expectations! and that , i cannot bare .. i never really understood why i have to do things the typical way, whether its dressing or talking or even the mere act of liking or disliking a thing.
I am not criticizing the Emarati culture, i am referring to culture in general, where you are expected to act a certain way because that’s how everyone else does it in your area…
I prefer sticking to Religion & it’s practices, i am 100% willing to follow Islam, but the Arabic culture in general, i’m not sure it wins me completely. Don’t get me wrong, i believe the Arabic culture contains thousands of beautiful aspects,t’s one of the most beautiful cultures in the world, it’s warm, it’s friendly, it’s family engaged, it gives without expecting anything in return, its actually based on generosity, whether you’re Shami, an African Arab or a Khaleeji, those norms are simply there ….
but here’s what i don’t like, cultural, habitual or maybe just a life style matter …
- i don’t like the fact that everyone thinks that he/she has the right to tell you what to do, or let me put it this way, sometimes people around here think you really care about what THEY think, & that their opinion actually matters, dudes, seriously? i mean seriously!
- i cannot stand women gatherings, i guess this applies to women in every culture, i just don’t understand whats enjoyable about sitting with a bunch of ladies TALKING
- i don’t like how men’s mistakes are always ignored, & they always have the famous supporting phrases:
“when he marrys, he’ll change”
or “change him after you marry him!”
or even worse ” Rayal, may3eeba shay” as in nothing really stains a man’s reputation! puhhleaaaaaze
- i HAAATE the curiousity, i cannot understand why someone wants to know every single detail in another person’s life, whether its a family member, friend, or a complete stranger, people, you like to have your privacy, so don’t invade others’ privacy!
- i literally suffer from mental asthma attacks due to the fact that a lot of typical people around here believe that more is always better (yeah its possible to have such attacks) .. a pinch of makeup? why use a pinch? use some three or four tons, Geee, don’t be “ga7a6″ or “cheap”… plain abaya? seriously? are you going to a funeral? Geeee add some strokes of colors and crystals “vomits” … pastel colors? Pastel?! *waves to Reem* whyyyy girl, are you depressed? wear fuchsia, vibrant RED! how’s anyone gunna notice you with such colors, add more HUE! i think its not only about MORE around here, its also about SIZE
- i don’t like how people almost hate you if you haven’t told them about a specific situation, indecent, happy or sad, new or 10 years old, that you’ve witnessed or lived, you’ll see the biggest shock on their faces, like you’ve betrayed them, so many things happen to us, are we really supposed to talk about every single thing we went through with every human being who claims he cares about you?
- it kills a trillion cell in my brain when someone uses this sentence “don’t do this! what will people THINK” …….
i can go on and on .. but i think ill stop, because, well, i think people reading this post will start to think i prefer living alone, no human beings around, actually, it is true, i like being alone
People, please , live & let live, you have your way, & others have their own, so be it!

alwaslgirl, you’re sweet gestures are always SWEET! homemade chocolate chip coockies IN A JAR! this is a very smart way to win my heart for ever & ever

cool find, it’s Meeeee Mario

the apple of my eyes

her artwork, on the arm rest, in mums car! imagine the terror of my poor mother lol
before i go,
I’d like to know, what irritates you about your culture?
Love in Allah’s sake…
Sunday, January 3rd, 2010
In this new year, i wish you all LOVE in Allah…
the type of love that does not discriminates between races and religions…
the kind of love that gives, but never demands something in return…
the kind of love that makes you a better person…
the kind of love that takes you a step closer to Heaven …
the kind of love that no distance can diminish…
the kind of love that does not differentiate between a living soul, & that second one that rests in peace….
the kind of love that bring you closer to Allah….
May you all be granted an eternal love shared with your family, friends… & even a stranger that you are yet to meet…
Ameen..
it hurts
Thursday, November 19th, 2009It really hurts to see such devoted Muslims, suddenly leaving Islam, & for what? for really lame reasons, usually centered around details of their every day life.
Maybe it’s just easier not to be Muslim? i mean, you don’t have to pray, you don’t have to cover your hair as a female, you don’t have to stop drinking & dating & all that jazz…
But wait a minute? people convert to a certain religion because they WANT to do these things, they want such discipline in their lives…
Why is religion considered to be a type of oppression to some people?
Some say the concept of “Heaven & Hell” just doesn’t seem right to them.. Cruel maybe? unfair?
if you worship Allah, you go to heaven
if you do not worship Allah, you go to hell… that doesn’t sound sweet?
Well it’s as simple as this… you study hard, you get a good grade, & if you don’t study, then simply, YOU DONT DESERVE A GOOD GRADE! why should someone be granted something they did not work for nor earn???…
Why should a pious, God fearing human being be deprived from Jannah? or better, why should he be equaled to that other human being who lived his entire life according to his own made up beliefs & desires, excluding God from it.. as if he himself was not created by a Superior power.. where did you come out from you who deny the existence of God? a Kinder Surprise egg?!
and they say there’s no proof that God exists, i won’t even go into proving this because honestly put, if you see no proof, your not sight blinded, not really, you’re just heart blinded… which if you don’t know, is even worse..

“Have they not travelled through the land, and have they hearts wherewith to understand and ears wherewith to hear? Verily, it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts which are in the breasts that grow blind.”
you know, i can personally say:
“Khalas, no more Islam, no more any religion, i will be a good person & live my life accordingly” …
everyone can say that, sounds very FREEDOM like and perfect.. but just give this a thought…. How can you know that what you believe in is really considered right? i mean, what are you going to compare it with? law? ethics? culture? if so, you’ll never really reach a conclusion, every humanbeing has a certain belief of right & wrong.. i may believe stealing is bad, whereas to you, it’s good, in a sense where by stealing you can feed a hungry person or animal…. see the conflict? there’s never really a standard, every culture has a different perception of right & wrong,, good & bad…
This is why we need religion, without it, what makes us any different from animals? (even animals worship God!!)
what gives us a limit to what we do or say? without limitations, we’ll be well heck of a mess!!… and pleeeease don’t go on telling me the sky is the limit and all those superficial statements.. every single organization has policies and rules, every school & university have a set of rules which we as student must follow, and actually most of the time we follow without question. So why become so bothered about the fact that in any religion you are expected to follow certain beliefs and practices??…..
Religion, despite which, is a way of life… it makes us behave.. it makes us human beings.. it gives us a reason to exist… everyone wants to know what would happen to them after they die, who doesn’t question this? you may say, nothing, nothing’s gonna happen, just peace, silence for eternity … another might believe she’ll go up to the clouds and just sit there like an angel and watch over the living ones….!
I simply say, who am i to decide what’ll happen to me?.. did i create myself? no i didn’t… you control what school your kids shall go to, don’t you? Yes you will ask for thier opinions but at the end of the day, as a parent, you believe you know whats best for your kid & it is you the parent who’ll make the decision…….
if not God, He Who created us, then who shall decide what our ending should be?…
Unless you come from a kinder surprise egg, i have nothing to add ..
if you follow a faith, don’t stop looking into other religions, it’ll make you either realize where the truth lies, with Allah’s guidance… or if you trully and fully believe you’re on the right track, it’ll only make you more convinced…
on the other hand, if you’re faithless, then excuse me, but you really do seem to come from a Kinder Egg … go Google yourself to see who manufactured you, SEE!!, even the toys in there WERE CREATED !! God, give me patience to bear all this
Did I tell you that I’m almost done reading The Google Story?… I actually enjoyed the book , it has lots of tips & insights, but it’s kinda biased towards Google, a bit more than it should be….
